Edward Byron Adams (1940-2009) Navy  Came to  PBHS from West Gate Jr High and was with us for all three years. Palm Beach Post obituary reads “after graduation, he joined the Navy and was a member of the Naval Reserve”.

James Alcott Adams (1939-2003) Army Came to PBHS from Palm Beach Junior High. He is pictured with our Senior Class in the 1958 Yearbook. The Department of Veteran's Affairs records he served from 1974 to 1977 and left the Army with the rank SP4. Palm Beach Post obituary states he served in the Army for a total of 10 ½ years.

Frederick Adlam (I1940) Army Came to PBHS from Central jr. High and was pictured as a Sophomore in the PBHS 1956 Yearbook.  He was recorded on Marine Corps muster rolls in Paris Island and Camp LeJeune January through October of 1958 as a recruit, Private and PFC.

Charles Weaver Akins (1937) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr. High and was pictured in 1956 as a Sophomore in the PBHS Yearbook.  The Pensacola News Journal, 22 September, 1963 reports the wedding of Charles Akins Lt.(Jg) USN to Martha T\owns.

Henry Crowell Alexander (1940-2012) Coast Guard Came to PBHS from Conniston Junior High and was with us through all three years. He enlisted in the Coast Guard with basic training at Camp May, NJ and was assigned as a fireman at the facility in Yorktown, VA, serving on a Buoy Tender. During six years as a reservist in Miami, he would serve on active duty once a year for two weeks out-of-state training programs. He ascended from Seaman to Yeoman 3rd Class during his career.

James Harold Anstis (1941-2017) Navy Came to PBHS from Central Junior High and provided the class a great amount of information on his service after graduation. He served aboard the USS Antares from 1962 until 1962 with cruises through the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Caribbean. Including reserve status, he served from 1960 to 1964.

William Albert Aycock (1939-2006) Marines Came to PBHS from Central Junior High and was with us all three years. His tombstone reads LCpl U.S. Marines – Viet Nam and the Department of Veteran's Affairs states his service Enlistment Date was 21 Aug 1961 and  his Release Date 17 Dec 1962

Dudley Barber (1940) Coast Guard Was pictured as a Senior in the 1958 PBHS Yearbook and was listed in the Activities Section of the Yearbook.  The Palm Beach Post Times Oct 7 1962 Wedding Announcement for Dudley Barber states that he received his Coast Guard training at the Coast Guard Academy at Groton Connecticut.

Robert Benton (1938-1966) Coast Guard Was pictured as a Sophomore and Junior in the PBHS Yearbooks and listed in the Activities Section as a Senior. The October 18, 1964 Palm Beach Post Times reported that Robert Benton had just returned to Honolulu, Hawaii aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Matagora.

Charles Vincent Bailey, Jr (1939-2000) Army Was pictured in the PBHS yearbook as a Senior in 1958. The Department of Veteran's Affairs records his Army Enlistment Date as being 6 Apr 1962 and his Release Date 15 Sep 1965. His burial marker in the Calverton National Cemetery, Suffolk Co. NY reads Sp4 US Army. 

Virgil Rudolph Baker (1940-2002) Marines Was pictured in the PBHS yearbook as a Senior in 1958. He is recorded on the Marine Corps Muster Rolls in 1957 at the Riviera Beach Training Center and in 1958 at Camp LeJeune NC.

Charles David Banks (1940) Navy Was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 PBHS Yearbooks and he recorded in our 10th Reunion Booklet "USN 58-62". In the 20th Reunion Booklet, he said he spent 4 years in the Navy in the Far East.

James Leslie Beaver (1940-2003) Marines Came to PBHS from Central Junior High School and was with us for all three years. He self-reported to us service in the Marine Corps.  Marine Corps records list a muster date of July 1958 with a rank of Private First Class at the 99th Inf Co, USMC at the Marine Corps Center in Riviera Beach.

Charles Julius Becker (1939-        ) Coast Guard  He served in the Coast Guard 1958-1965, mostly reserve duty.

Samuel Eugene Bigbie (1940-         ) Army Came to PBHS from Conniston and was with us all three years. Sammy reported his service was 1958 – 1961and that he served as a Missile Radar Tech at the Army Defense Command at Fort Bliss, Texas. 

Kenneth Edward Bitsack (1940-2011) Navy Came to PBHS from Northboro Junior High. He was pictured as Senior in the 1958 Yearbook.  K.E. Bistack, Radio Man3 was listed and pictured with the ship's crew on board the USS Orleck 1960-1962 in the Pacific.


Robert William Bonham (1940-2010) Air Force Came to PBHS from Northboro Junior High. He is pictured as a Senior in the 1957 Yearbook. His obituary stated he served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic for 20 years. The Dept of Veteran's Affairs gives his enlistment date as 26 Mar 1961 and release date as 31 Mar 1981. His memorial marker at Pensacola in Barancas National Cemetery indicates his rank as Master Sergeant.

Jerry Herbert Browning (1939-       ) NG & Army Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr High and was with us all three years. He served from 1958 to 1964 with the National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves.

Roger Busch (1940) Air Force Palm Beach Post Times of March 7, 1962 reported that he had enlisted in the Air Force and was on his way to San Antonio TX for Basic Training.

William Jackson Calhoun (1940-1982) Army Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured with our class all three years. The Dept of Veteran's Affairs lists his Army Enlistment Date as 21 Feb 1962 and his Release Date 18 Feb 1965. His Zolfo Springs, FL obituary said he was a Vietnam Veteran.

Clifford Floyd Carmichael (1939-1995) Army Was listed with our class in the Senior Activities section of the 1958 Yearbook. The Department of Veteran's Affairs gave his Army Enlistment Date as 11 Oct 1964 and his Release Date as 11 Oct 1971. His Palm Beach Post obituary states he was a US Army veteran of Vietnam and Thailand. The same information is noted on his grave marker.

Francis Patrick Cass (1940-       ) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston and was pictured as a Sophomore in the 1956 Yearbook. From 1959 through 1963 he was listed in the WPB City Directories in the residence of his parents with employment given as “USN”. He was listed in class reunion presentations as having been in service with the U.S. Navy.

Marvin Brooks Chesser (1940-      ) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston. Was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 yearbooks. Reported to the class reunions - Naval Aviator (1961-1993) 32 years service. Promotion to permanent grade of Navy Captain (1981-82)

Terry Alan Christopher (1940-2007) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston. Was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 yearbooks. His obituary in Vero Beach states he served as a Navy Seal.  He is pictured with the seal team on board the USS Yorktown 1961-62.

Erwin Ralph Clemens, Jr (1940-1994) MarinesCame to PBHS from Northboro. He was pictured as a Sophomore and Junior and listed as a Senior in the PBHS Yearbooks. He was listed in several Marine Muster Rolls including the Marine Training Center in Riviera Beach, Parris Island and Camp LeJeune as well as pictured in Uniform on Ancestry.com in a Public Member Entry.

Willard Samuel Cline (1939-1995) Air Force Came to PBHS from West Gate Junior High and was pictured in the 1956 Yearbook in the Sophomore Class. The Department of Veteran's Affairs lists his Air Force enrollment date as 28 Feb 1956 and his Release Date as 29 Feb 1976.

Ronald Charles William Cope (1939-      ) Marines & Air ForceCame to PBHS in 1955 from Northboro  He is not pictured in the PBHS Yearbooks He served in the Marines 1956-1960  & Air Force 1963-1976 

David Thomas Crockett (1939-2002) Coast Guard David Crockett came to PBHS from Central Jr High and was pictured as a Sophomore in the 1956 Yearbook. His obituary states he joined the Coast Guard in 1958 and trained at Cape May, NJ and Yorktown, VA. After training he was stationed aboard the USCG Cutter “Gentian-290", transferring to his Home Base as Port Security at the Port of Miami. Then he served as a Reservist.

Herbert Pressley Daniels (1939-2019) Marines Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr. High and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks.  He wrote that he joined the Marines in 1957.


Douglas McGregor Darden (1939-2015) Marines Was pictured as a Senior in the 1958 Yearbook but was also pictured as a Senior in the 1957 yearbook – joked about graduating on the 5 year plan. Served with Marine Corps Reserve 1956-1958. Joined the regular USMC in 1958 and served as the Admiral's orderly at the U.S. Naval Academy. After leaving active duty in 1962 he remained a member of the Marine Corp League.

John Wade Davies (1940-2007) Coast Guard Came to PBHS from Northboro and was pictured in 1956, 1957 & 1958 Yearbooks.

He was in the Coast Guard in 1958.

Ronald Lee Day (1940-2015) Air Force Came to PBHS from Northboro and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. His obituary states he was an Air Force Veteran

Milton Dean Deckert (1940-2002) Navy Was pictured as a Junior in the 1957 Yearbook. Name appears regularly in the U.S. Navy officers Registry – Rank of Lieutenant in 1977.

Julia Carol Dudley (1940-      ) Air Force Came to  PBHS from Conniston Jr. High.  Was with us all three years.at PBHS 1960-1963 USAF Served in Orlando as a lab technician 

David Paul DeWalt (1940-      ) Marines Was pictured as a Senior in the 1958 Yearbook He had served in the USMC 1958-1968

James Leland Diggs (1940) National Guard Came to PBHS from Westgate Jr. High and was pictured in the Yearbooks in 1956 and 1958.  He wrote to us that he served in the National Guard.

Phillip Lee Dudley (1939-        ) Air Force Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 & 1958 Yearbooks. In response to requests for information collected to display at Class Reunions Phillip wrote, “1959 – 1963; Stationed as Patrick Air Force Base, Cape Canaveral, Served as Flight Engineer, Crew Chief and Mechanic in support of the Space Program recovering capsules from Bermuda to Ascension Islands.” 

William Clifford Dunlap (1940-2010) Air Force Came to PBHS from Central Jr. High. Was pictured as a Junior and as a Senior in the 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. Was in the Air Force between 1960 and 1963, training in San Antonio and in Denver. Stationed in Southern Italy servicing missile sites in the mountains.

William Thomas Edwards (1940-      ) Army Was not pictured in 1956-58 yearbooks except for team picture of the Golf Team. Submitted the following information for the 50th Reunion: Military Service Questionnaire, 1958-1963 US Army

George Allen Fergusson (1940-       ) Air Force Came to PBHS from Central Jr High and was pictured the school Yearbooks 1956-1958. In response to requests for information collected to display at Class Reunions, George reported that he had served in the U.S. Air Force 1963-1967, that he was a Weapons Control Officer and that he served stateside and in Alaska.

Frederick William Fisher (1940-      ) Marines Was pictured in the 1958 Yearbook as a Senior. In response to requests for information concerning Military Service to be displayed at class reunions, Fred Fisher wrote that he served in the Marine Corps 1958-1961.

Patrick Edward Flynn (1940-1998) Marines Was pictured in the 1958 Yearbook as a Senior. Department of Veteran's Affairs lists his US Marine Corps Enlistment Date as 8 Feb 1961 and his Release Date as 5 Feb 1965. His grave marker in Dear Lodge, Montana reads “Patrick Edward Flynn, CPL US Marine Corps – Vietnam”.

Michael Edward Foster (1940-      ) Army Came to PBHS from Central Jr. High and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He served in the Army 1960-1967, completing Basic at Fort Jackson, and served  at Ft. Benning and was a Staff Sgt E-6 in the Combat Engineers.

James Everett Garnett (1940-1990) Navy Was pictured as a Senior in the 1958 Yearbook. The Department of Veteran's Affairs lists his rank in the US Navy as EN3, his Enlistment Date as 5 Aug 1958 and his Release Date as 28 Sep 1961. His burial marker in Knoxville TN National Cemetery indicates the same information.

David Maron Glassman (1940) Air Force Came to PBHS from Palm Beach Jr. High and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks.  He wrote that after completion of college and Dental School, he served int the U.S. Air Force.

Earl David Gray (1938-2007) Army Came to PBHS from Connistion Jr High. Was pictured as a Sophomore in the 1956 Yearbook and as a Senior in the 1958 Yearbook. His grave marker at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL reads SGC US Army – Vietnam. Department of Veteran's Affairs give his Enlistment date as 22 Apr 1959 and Release Date as 31 Jul 1983.

Milton Charles Gross (1941-2005) Army Came to PBHS from Conniston in 1955. Was pictured in the 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks as a Junior and Senior. Palm Beach Post Obituary reported he served 22 years in the Army 1963-1985 and retired as a Master Sgt – having tours in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. The Department of Veteran's Affairs confirms this information.

Rene Guionnaud (1940-      ) National Guard Was pictured as a Sophomore, Junior and as a Senior in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He served in the National Guard 1957-1965

Earl N (Buddy) Hager (1939-      ) Army (Warren L Hager in PBHS) Came to PBHS from West Gate Jr. High. Was pictured in the 1956, 1957 & 1958 Yearbooks. He served in the Army Reserves 1958 – 1964.

Robert Charles Halliday (1939- 2019     ) Marines Came to PBHS from Central Jr. High and was pictured in the 1956, 57 & 58 Yearbooks.  He served in the Marine Corps 1959-1964. He married Theresa Wright, a PBHS Classmate who was a US Army Nurse.

David Hubbard Hamilton (1940-      ) Air Force Was pictured with our class as a Senior in the 1958 Yearbook. Was in the Air Force Reserves from 1963 to 1969. Went to basic training at Lackland Air force Base. Home base was March AFB. Was in a Combat Support Squadron of a Troop Carrier Wing.

Gaylord Edward Hendricks (1940) Army Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr. High.  A 1959 Palm Beach Post Times article stated that he had recently returned from active duty in the Army at Ft. Jackson SC.  He then served 8 years with the 3220 US Army Garrison Ibn WPB.

Robert Allen Hardekopf (1940-2013) Navy Was pictured in PBHS Yearbooks 1956, 1957 and 1958. He was commissioned and served in the US Navy on a nuclear powered destroyer and submarine. Bob was commissioned as an officer in the Navy in 1962 and served on the initial crew of the USS Bainbridge (DLGN-25), the Navy¹s first nuclear-powered destroyer. In addition to being a ³plank owner,² Bob served on the commissioning crew and on the first deployment of the Navy¹s ³nuclear task force² to the Mediterranean. Bob then volunteered for nuclear power training, and after interviewing with Admiral Rickover, the father of the Nuclear Navy, was accepted into the program. He graduated first in his class at the US Navy¹s Nuclear Power School in Maryland and the Prototype Reactor Facility in Connecticut. He then volunteered for the Submarine Service and spent 6 months at the New London Submarine School, receiving the Spear Foundation award for highest academic achievement in his class. He was assigned to the crew of the ballistic-missile submarine, USS Von Steuben (SSBN-35), where he qualified as diving officer, engineering officer, and conning officer. He made three patrols in the North Atlantic before resigning his commission in 1967

Richard David Hartigan (1940-       ) Army Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured in the yearbooks with our class in 1956, 1957 and 1958. He was in the Army Reserve 1963 -1969 


Jay Marvin Harris (1940-1967) Air Force Was pictured as a Sophomore in the 1956 yearbook. His grave marker in West Palm Beach Hillcrest Cemetery reads, “Jay M Harris, A2C U.S. Air Force”

James Ronald Harrison (1940-      ) Army Ft. Benning); Commanded Spandau Prison (Berlin); 3 tours in Vietnam with Special Ops and as Combat Company Commander (Co C and Co B, 1st Bn, 4th Inf Div. 3 purple hearts.)

Thomas H. Henrikson (1939-      ) Army Was pictured with our classmates in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks.  He served in the US Army 1963 – 1966 as an Infantry Lieutenant stationed mostly in the southern part of the United States.

Dolton Henry Hermeling (1940-2008) Army Was pictured as a Junior and Senior in the 1957 & 1958 Yearbooks. His Palm Beach Post obituary states that he served in the Army before working with Pratt-Whitney.

Peter Stuart Hicks (1940-2013) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High, Was pictured with our class in in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. His obituary stated that “He proudly served in the United States Navy for six years.”

Paul Gene Himber (1940-2017) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High. Was pictured with our class in 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He served in the US Navy. His obituary in the Palm Beach Post stated more specifically that he served from 1960 through 1966 on the USS Threadfin. 

Thomas Charles Hoffman (1940-2010) Army Was pictured as a Senior in the 1958 Yearbook. He served in the Army 1963-1965. As a 1st Lieutenant he served as an information officer and editor of an Army newspaper. His obituary (the Atlanta Constitution)explained that he had received a degree in Journalism from the University of Florida and served 1963-1965 at Fort Gordon, Georgia

George Denis Hofman (1939-1987) Marines George Denis Hofman came to PBHS from Northboro Jr. High and was pictured as a Sophomore and a Junior in the 1956 & 1957 Yearbooks. The 1961 City Directory of WPB lists  him with his parents on Greenwood Ave and gives his occupation as USMC. US Marine Muster Rolls list him 1957 – 1958 at the US Marine Corps Reserve Center in Riviera Bch, at the Naval Aviation Training Center in Jacksonville and at Camp LeJeune, NC. Interment records at the Lantana Cemetery indicate his total military service was 1954-through 1969 which undoubtedly included his reserve service. 

Charles Farris Hogue (1940-2007) Navy Came to PBHS from Central Jr High and was pictured in the PBHS Yearbook in 1956, 1957 & 1958. His grave marker in the South Florida National Cemetery (LW) indicates he served in the US Navy as a RMSN (radioman)

Harris Barton Holmes Army Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 & 1958 Yearbook. Served in the US Army 1960 – 1966, Basic and 6 months at Ft. Jackson, SC.  Then at the 3320th Reserve Unit in West Palm Beach. Pictured in the Palm Beach Post on 12 May 1965 as a Staff Sergeant, receiving a citation from the unit commander.

Michael Luther Houck (1939-2016) Air Force Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High. Was pictured in the PBHS yearbooks as a Sophomore in 1956 and as a Junior in 1957. His obituary in Ocala stated that he served in the US Air Force for 20 Years.

Edwin Glenn Hyatt (1940-      ) Army Was pictured in the PBHS Yearbooks in 1956, 1957 & 1958.  He served in the US Army  from 1964 to 1970 and was stationed in Columbia, SC

Glenwood Lee Ingham (1940-1990) Navy Was pictured as a Senior in the PBHS 1958 Yearbook. Served in the US Navy in satellite and air photo analysis. US Veteran's Grave-site information states his service started in 1960. He is buried in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL where his memorial stone reads “ATC US Navy Vietnam” (Armored Troop Carrier) This means he took part in the “Brown Water Navy”

Duane Winston Jackson (1941-2010) Marines - Air Force Was pictured with our class as a Sophomore, Junior and Senior in the PBHS Yearbooks. U.S. Marine Corps Muster Rolls show Duane Jackson as a Private at the Marine Corps Training Center in Riviera Beach, FL (Jan 1958) The Dept of Veteran's Affairs indicates he served in the US Air Force from 12 Feb 1958 to 9 Feb 1962. He died in the Spokane Veteran's Home, Medical Lake, Spokane, Washington and his Spokane obituary confirms the above Air Force Service dates, adding that his service included a remote assignment working on the Distant Early Warning (DEW) line.

Kenneth Bradley James (1939-1969) KIA Army ON THE WALL Panel 27W Line 010 Came to PBHS from Central Junior High and was pictured with our class in the yearbooks from 1956 to 1958. Service: Army of the United States Grade at loss:  W1   Rank:  Warrant Officer Helicopter Pilot, Utility and Light Cargo Single Rotor Length Service:  08   Unit: B TRP, 1ST SQDN, 9TH CAVALRY, 1ST CAV DIV, USARV. Location: Long Khanh Province, South Vietnam Body recovered 

Ronald Harmon Jones (1940-      ) Army Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured with our class in 1956, 1957 and 1958. He served in the Army from 1958 – 1965. Went through Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC and served on active duty in Korea in 1964 & 1965.

Richard Louis Julius (1941-      ) Air Force Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr High and was pictured with our class in 1956, 1957 and 1958.  After Medical School volunteered for USAF and entered as a Major. Served 1978-1981. Was stationed at McDill AFB in charge of the pediatric clinic for 2 years.


John Albert Kersey (1939-1997) Navy Was pictured as a Senior in the 1957 PBHS Yearbook and with our class in the 1958 yearbook. He served in the Navy. His memorial stone reads AK2 US Navy – Vietnam (Aviation Storekeeper 2nd Class) which indicates he may have been on a carrier.

James Richard King (1940-        ) Navy Came to PBHS from Central Jr High and was pictured with our class in yearbooks 1956, 1957 & 1958. He served in the Navy aboard the Destroyer Escort USS Kirwin during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Douglas Keith Knowles (1940-        ) Army Was pictured with our class in the 1956 and 1958 Yearbooks. He served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Battalion as a Sp 5 1961-1964

William Quentin Kulp (1939-        ) NG & Army Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr High and was pictured with our class in yearbooks 1956 through 1958. He served 1957-1965 in the Fla National Guard and in the US Army Reserves.

Robert Lanier Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr. High and was pictured with our class in the 1956 and 1957 Yearbooks.  “U.S. Navy”

Irvin James Leffler Marines Pictured as a classmate in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. The Department of Veteran Affairs reports the he served in the Marines with an Enlistment date of 7 April 1959  and a Release Date of 11 Mar 1963.

Gary Edwin Lee (1939-        ) Army Came to PBHS from Central Jr. High. He served in the U.S. Army from  1958 to1964

David William Martin, Jr (1941-        ) Navy Came to PBHS from Palm Beach Jr High and was pictured with our class in 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. After Duke Medical School he associated with the Navy and Bethesda Naval Hospital.

Spencer Dwight McQueen (1940-2011) Air Force Was pictured with our class in the 1958 Yearbook and is buried in the Bay Pines National Cemetery in Pinellas Co, FL. His grave marker reads “A2C U.S. Air Force”

Willard Edward Meeks (1940-1994) Army  Was pictured with our class as a Sophomore in the 1956 Yearbook. Department of Veterans Affairs reports an Enlistment date in the Army of 5 April 1972, however Military Registers report 30 September 1968. His release date is given as 1977. Military Records posted on Ancestry.com give the following quotation, “And these are former members of the 145th Combat Aviation Battalion that died after leaving Vietnam – Willard E. Meeks, 114AML, WO died 14 Dec 1994 of Cancer – May they all rest in peace” 

Richard Bruce Minos (1940-1999) Marines Came to PBHS from Central Jr High and was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. Department of Veteran's Affairs confirms he served in the Marines  with an Enlistment Date of 25 April 1962 and Release Date of 24 October 1962.

James Thomas Mize (1940-2011) National Guard Was not listed in any of our local Jr High Schools and was not pictured in the 1956, 1957 or 1958 Yearbooks, however he was consistently listed at our reunions as a “Missing Classmate” When questioned at his wife's class reunion (class of 1959), he explained that he had attended PBHS only a few months in 1958 and was not pictured in the yearbook. And . . . . . when he died in 2011, his obituary in Adel, Georgia stated that he had been a member of the National Guard.


Nelson Earl Moehle (1939-1995) Air Force Came to PBHS from Central Jr. High School and was pictured with our class in the 1956. 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. The Department of Veteran's Affairs confirms that he served in the Air Force with an Enlistment Date of 24 July 1959 and a Release Date of 8 December 1960.

James Earl Moree (1939-1990) Army  Came to PBHS from Riviera Jr Hi. Was pictures in PBHS Yearbook 1957 and 1958. Was a career Air Force Serviceman, serving three tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Michael Gerald O'Connor (1940-        ) Marine He served in the Marine Corps from 1956 to1965. Was a competitive rifle marksman with the M-1 and M-14 and ran testing for the new USMC 50 Cal Barrett Sniper Rifle.

David Schroeder Parham (1939-2012) Coast Guard Came to PBHS from Central Jr Hi and was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. His obituary published in Memphis states he was a retired member of the US Coast Guard Reserve.

Robert Paul Parkman (1940-        ) Army

Donald Wanewright Pickron Jr. (1939-2019) Air Force Was pictured with our class in the 1958 Yearbook.  He reported that he had served in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan, where he worked as a surgical  nurse.

 Ralph Frederick Pinney (1939-        ) Army Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured with our class in 1956, 1957 and 1958. Served 27 Years in the U.S. Army retiring as a Sgt. Major in the Military Police for 13 years and Criminal Investigations for 14 years. Served in Berlin, Korea, and Vietnam in Civil Affairs.

Royce Lamar Platt (1938-2018) Army Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958  Yearbooks with us as classmates. His obituary stated “He proudly served our country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division, 503rd Reg. as a Sergeant.”

Margaret Mary Plockelman (1940-        ) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High. Was pictured with our class in Yearbooks 1956, 1957 and 1958. She served as a Registered Nurse in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1969 stationed mostly in Guam. This is confirmed in the US Select Military Registers of 1965 and 1967.

Peter Emmett Pope (1940-        ) Navy Was with our classmates though elementary and Jr High then dropped out a year. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1958 to 1964, two years of which was on active duty.

Steven Bryan Poston (1939-2009) Marines Was pictured as a Junior with our class in 1957. Was listed on the Muster Rolls of the Riviera Beach Marine Training Center in 1957 and 1958 as a Private and as a Private First Class.

Kent Waitman Price (1940-2006) Army & Navy Was pictured with our class in the 1957 Yearbook. His grave marker in Arizona lists service in the US Navy and the US Army. His obituary in the Casa Grande Dispatch states “He served in the Army, where he was a marksman and in the Navy as a medical technician.”

Patrick Henderson Pugsley (1940-2010) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured with our class in 1956 and 1958. His Palm Beach Post Obituary states “ Patrick served two years in the US Navy, 23 years with Eastern Airlines and 10 years as an RN at VA Hospital in Miami.”

Robert William Rang (1939-2009) Marines Came to PBHS from Westgate Jr. High and was pictured with our class as a Sophomore in the 1956 Yearbook. His Palm Beach Post obituary stated he has served in the Marine Corps Reserves and the Muster Rolls of the 99th Special Infantry Company (Riviera Beach USMCR) record his attendance there in April of 1956.

Richard Gene Riggle (1940-2010) Navy Came to PBHS from Central Jr High and was pictured as a Sophomore in the 1956 Yearbook. His obituary stated “He became a hospital corpsman, serving aboard the USS Cavalla, the USS Cobbler, the USS Sea Leopard, the USS Threadfin and the USS Salmon. Richard retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer in 1976.”

David Bruce Rinker (1940-        ) Army Came to PBHS from Palm Beach Jr High and was pictured with our class in 1956, 1957 and 1958. After completing ROTC at Stetson University, served on active duty at Ft Bragg, NC at the Special Warfare Center and then Reserve Duty at the 3220th Garrison in West Palm Beach. (1963-1969)

Theodore Joel Saffer (1941-        ) Navy Came to PBHS from Central Jr High and was pictured with our class in in the Yearbooks 1956, 1957 and 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1963  and  served on the USS Springfield, flagship of the 7th Fleet.

John Paul Scruggs (1938 -2018) Navy Came to PBHS from West Gate Jr High. He was pictured with our class in the 1956 Yearbook. His grave marker in Sarasota National Cemetery indicates he retired as a Lt Commander from The US Navy. The US Marine and Navy Registries confirms this information.

Dennis Reydn Setterfield (1940-        ) Army Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr. High and was pictured in the PBHS Yearbooks 1956, 1957 and 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1966. first with the Military Police then with Supply and Maintenance,

Richard Elfe Sherwood (1939-        ) Navy & Army Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr High and was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He wrote this: 1957 – 1981; Chief Warrant Officer. While still in High School I joined the Naval Reserve. I found the Navy was not what I was looking for and just prior to graduation I joined the U.S. Army. I went to basic training at Ft. Jackson the week after graduation (June 1958) followed by going to Ft. Gordon for Military Police Training. By November 1958 I was in Korea. I found the Army was where I wanted to be and was offered a career that I wanted. I went in as a Private  and retired 23 years later. While in, I had two tours in Korea, two tours in Germany and one tour in Vietnam. In the U.S. I was stationed at Ft Jackson, Ft. Gordon, Ft McClellan, Ft. Campbell, Ft. Bragg, Washington DC and Ft Lee, Va.

Bernard John Smith (1940-        ) Navy Came to PBHS from Central Jr High and was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He wrote:Retired Rear Admiral; 41 years service. I enlisted in the Navy in the electronics field. My Career field was Naval Aviation. Mostly Carrier Aviatiion. After 2 years enlisted, I was selected to attend the US Naval Academy.  Graduated 1965. Assigned Flight Training and entered the Fleet as a Light Attack Pilot. Flew A-4s, and A-7s from carriers during Vietnam. Amassed 410 Combat Missions in three deployments in USS BonHomme Richard and USS Saratoga from 67'-69' and 72'-73'.  I had every great position as an Aviator could have in the Navy.  Served as Squadron Commander to Battle Group Commander as an Admiral. I had nine Commands including two ships-USS SanDiego AFS-9 and the Aircraft Carrier USS Midway CV41.  During Desert Shield and Desert Storm, I served as Chief of Staff for the Commander of Naval Forces, Central Command.  My final sea duty was as Commander Carrier Group Five in the USS Independence, home ported in Yokosuka japan.  During my final five years, I established and Commanded the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center in Fallon, Nevada, and the Naval Warfare Development Command in Newport, RI. “

David Bussey Smoak (1938-2017) Marines Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High. Was pictured with our class in the 1956 and 1957 yearbooks and was listed in the Senior Activities section of the 1958 Yearbook. Served as a Gunnery Sgt in the Marine Corps and served as a marine on board the USS Lake Champlain. He is buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida where his inscription includes the words “GYSGT US MARINE CORPS VIETNAM” 

Earl Douglas Stewart (1940) Coast Guard Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr. High and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He wrote that he had served in the Coast Guard Reserves.

Clyde Eugene Spell (1940-2008) Air Force Was not listed or pictured in any of our yearbooks, however was listed by official PBHS graduation records as taking part in the service at Cooley Stadium. His obituary gave the following information, “Mr. Spell was a retired major with the United States Air Force, having served with decorated service from 1961 to 1984. Among other awards, he received the Meritorious Service Medal and was a key contributor to the F15 and F16 jet programs.”

Ronald Douglas Stainthorpe (1940-2003) Army Came to PBHS from Conniston and was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. After finishing PBJS he joined the Florida National Guard and then served in Vietnam on a river gunboat. Was released from the Army as a Sp4. Name: Stainthorpe, Ronald Douglas ER 14 828 559 Branch: Army – USAR – AGC Grade: SP4 (P) E-4 Date: 26 August 1967 Date: 30 August 1969 Type: Discharge as Reserve of US Army and return to Corps Control Station: Fort Benning, GA Last Duty:231st TC Co. Ronald Lee Stirpack (1940-        ) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured with our class in each of the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks.  He was  in the US Navy 1959 – 1963 and served on the USS Alan Sumner DD683 during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

David Allen Studley (1940-2015) Navy Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr High and was pictured with our class in 1956, 1957 and 1958. He was  in the US Navy 1958-1978 and retired as a Chief Petty Office; five tours in Vietnam working with Seal Teams and Amphibs. Served in communications and equipment repair. Served in Washington DC working with lawmakers concerning military benefit plans. The Palm Beach Post reported on  30 Nov 1958, that David Allen Studleyhad enlisted in the Navy after graduating from PBHS and was trained as a sonarman aboard the destroyer USS Collett (DD-730)

Robert Harry Sutton (1940-2016) Marine Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured with our class in 1956 as a Sophomore. His obituary in Marrietta, Ga states he served is country as a marine and his grave marker in the Georgia National Cemetery reads “LCPL USMC Vietnam”

Calvin James Swank (1940-2014) Navy Was pictured with our class in the 1958 Yearbook. His grave marker in Latrobe, PA states he served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. The Palm Beach Post reported Seaman Apprentice Swank passed the test for nuclear weapons training and will attend Nuclear Weapons Basics School, Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Ill. Going from there to Sandia Base, Albuquerque, NM for Advanced Courses. A 1958 graduate of Palm Beach High School, he enlisted in the Navy September 3.

Benjamin Southerland Symons (1940-2005) Coast Guard Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 yearbooks. His obituary published in the Palm Beach Post stated that after graduating from Palm Beach High he served his country in the Unites States Coast Guard. Find A Grave Hillcrest Cemetery pictures him in his uniform.

Jack Rhodes Templeton (1940-      ) Navy Came to PBHS from Central Jr. High. Was pictured with our class in 1956, 1957 and 1958. Served in the Navy Reserve as a “bird farm sailor” aboard the USS Saratoga CVA 60, Flagship of the 6th Fleet as a PI in their Intelligence Office (Photo Interpreter) 

Donald Blair Thorburn (1940-        ) Navy Came to PBHS from Conniston and was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He was in the US Navy 1960-1963 and served on USS Cogswell DD 651. Escorted troop ships to Panama during Cuban Missile Crisis and engaged in Laos Crisis which became the Vietnam War.

Allen Richard Treadwell (1940-        ) Army Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr. High and was pictured in the Yearbooks in 1956, 1957 and 1958.  He served in the US Army from 1964 to 1973 and attained the rank of Captain.

Robert Kenneth Valentine (1940-      )US Air Force Came to PBHS from Conniston Jr High and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He served in the US Air Force Nov. 1958-June 1962.

Joseph Ernest Varney, Jr (1941-2012) Army Was pictured as a Senior in the 1958 PBHS Yearbook. His obituary published in the Palm Beach Post stated that he had served in the US Army and had been stationed in Okinawa. Another 1960 Post article (12 Jun 1960) indicated he had been stationed at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama

Arthur Francis Walker (1940-        ) Army Came to PBHS from Central Jr High and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He served in the Army 1958-1964: Airborne, Special Forces; France, Germany, Laos and Vietnam.

John William Wallace (1938-        ) Marines This name appeared on our class list only as a “Responder” to our 45 Reunion. And in response to information on military service he wrote that he served in Marines 1958 – 1964. His name did appear in a 1960 Palm Beach Post article and mentioned him as a Pfc in the Marines having enlisted in the Reserves in 1956

Charles Earl Warren (1940) National Guard Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr. High and was pictured in the 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks.  He wrote that he had served in the National Guard.

Bernard Joseph Wein (1940-        ) Army Was pictured with our class in the 1958 Yearbook, He served in the Army 1962 – 1968.

Thomas Andrew Weatherford (1940-2016) Navy Was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. -He served two years Activity Duty with the Navy. His obituary states that he joined the Navy in 1958 upon graduation from High School.

Joseph Anthony Wesloski (1940-1995) Navy Was pictured with our class in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. The Palm Beach Post reported 0n 27 Oct 1963 that Ensign Joseph A Wesloski had graduated from Officers Candidate School in Newport, R.I. The Select Military Register reported his Military commencement date as 20 Sep 1963.

Charles Duane West (1940-        ) NG & Army Came to PBHS from Central Jr. High. Was pictured with our class in the yearbooks 1956, 1957 and 1958.  He served from 1958 to 1964 in the National Guard and then US Army Reserve.

Harold Kirk Whitman (1939-2011) Coast Guard Was pictured in the 1957 Yearbook and listed in the 1958 Yearbook's Senior Activities.  He wrote that he had served in the Coast Guard

William Wilkinson (1940) Came from Conniston Jr. high and was pictured in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. He wrote that he had served in the National Guard.

Robert Wallace Wiseman Jr (1940-2013) Navy Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr. High and was Pictured or Listed with our class in 1956, 1957 & 1958. His Grave Marker in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery Reads PN3 US NAVY VIETNAM

Paul Franklin Wolcott (1938-2002) Army Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr High and was pictured with our class as a Sophomore in 1956. His grave marker in Jefferson County, Alabama reads “Paul F Wolcott, Sr. SSG US ARMY VIETNAM”. His daughter wrote in 1996 that he served there in 1972-73.

James Vance Woodard (1940-1999) Air Force Was pictured with our class as a Junior and Senior in 1957 & 1958. The US Dept of Veterans Affairs lists his branch as Air Force with an enlistment date of 29 May 1962 and release date of 27 May 1966. His Palm Beach Post obituary mentioned he was an Air Force Veteran.

Kathleen Theresa Wright (1940-        ) Army Came to PBHS from Northboro Jr High and was pictured with us in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Yearbooks. She was an Army Nurse 1963 - 1966”

Bernard Reed Zimmerman (1941-2016) Navy Was pictured with our class as a Senior in the 1958 Yearbook. His grave marker in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL reads “Bernard R Zimmerman, Jr  -  BT3 US Navy” (Boiler Technician – Petty Officer 3rd Class)
